Well it was great to get a wonderful bit of praise for a couple of older pieces of my work, that hang in a place I run for short breaks of all kinds. This happened to be a youth group that I know fairly well, James the leader rang me yesterday to say how much he and a colleague admired my work. They picked out two in particular, both of which are quite different in style and technique – Last Furlong an oil painting on board 48″ x 24″.
Evening was an oil painting in mine that I lost faith in and was going to throw away, but rescued it from the skip at the last moment. I coated it in tissue paper, gesso and then lots more tissue, followed by resin and hey presto a 48″ x 48″ deep frame canvas had a new life instead of being trash.
